Comment Spam

It has been bothering me recently that comment spam has kept messing around my site. One of such trolls disguises himself as a good-will poster saying good things like "Cool... a nice blog." Yeah, my blog must be nice since you could possibly lead the visitors here to your zip-code-what-the-heck-is-that site. I don't think you can, though. But even so, by doing so, you could get a good place in the Google search. Shit. One lolita keeps posting a bunch of nasty comments full of shitty links at a time. Heh, I disable HTML in my comments feature. Too bad for you, huh?

Well, it's a pain to delete all the garbage manually every morning.

I found this site offering a way to kill comment spam using a blacklist of spamming sites. It seems to work all right for now. Phew....

There's also this out now - http://www.jayallen.org/projects/mt-blacklist/
- a full-fledged plugin for Movable Type (MT-Blacklist). Works well and an easy install.

Thanks for the link, Jennifer. :) Though the plugin sounds great, I can't use it now because of the "Storable.pm" problem. I think I have to live with the hack for the time being.

I never heard of comment spam before. I know there's people out there who just say nasty things to be a pain but I didn't know about spammers. People will find all kinds of ways to annoy you I guess.

I've learnt that some people are idiots and I have my rant at them on my site, but they keep coming back for more.

I'm now at the same point as you Kiyo - deleting stuff every morning. I'll check out the link you've got there to be proactive, rather than reactive.

Yeah, there always are annoyances. You don't have to sit back.

Sorry to hear you're affected by spammers, too....hmm....maybe I'm a spammer, too, giving you all them crazy sites when your forums page was still UP.... hope not....

stay cool....

Great site guys... Keep up the good work :)
